Get Redressed Month 2022: Over 16 Tonnes of Clothes Collected and Sorted

Congratulations are in order! To the hardworking team at Redress, to all of our partners and supporters, and to YOU, our amazing community – Get Redressed Month 2022 is officially complete, and a huge success!

This October, a whopping 120 organisations joined the citywide Get Redressed Clothing Drive, Hong Kong’s largest annual clothing collection initiative. From there, we sifted through a 16 tonne mountain of clothing at our large-scale volunteer sorting event, the Sort-a-thon, with the help of 36 companies and 115 volunteers. And from November 18 through 23, we’ll be selling a huge selection of the best pieces at our #ShopSecondhand Pop-up Winter Edition. Mark your calendars!

During the month, Redress also promoted wiser clothing consumption through a public awareness campaign in the MTR and educational talks at corporations and schools introducing the issue of clothing waste and how we can be part of the solution as companies and individuals.

We’re grateful to all our partners who help make this campaign possible. Thank you to our major sponsor Swire Properties Limited, as well as Crystal International Group Limited, Lidl, KPMG, Walkers, Avery Dennison, MTR, our logistics sponsors RedBox and Li & Fung, and F&B sponsor PizzaExpress. Thank you also to our Sort-a-thon partners: PizzaExpress for food, XYZ for wellness, and Watsons for beverages, all of which energised the room to sort through 16.2 tonnes of collected clothing!

Get Redressed Month invites Hong Kongers to take a look inside their closets and consider how they can reuse, rewear, and recycle their clothes. Our annual consumer campaign is a chance to discover, and participate in, the positive power of fashion — to ‘love what’s been loved’ by giving clothes a new life.

Keep an eye out for news about the next campaign on our website and social media, as well ast the campaign impact report in January!
